This "sex work as mutual aid under communism" discourse is what comes of folks trying to glamorize sex work as something that people do because it's "fun" and "empowering" and not something the overwhelming majority of sex workers do to eat while facing violence and exploitation.
"Under communism, people would still do sex work as a benevolent act because people love doing sex work and would still want to do this if their material needs were met and it wasn't the only means they had to feed themselves."
Lmfaooo at all these privileged ass white leftists trying to argue that hundreds of thousands of poor, non-white folks aren’t trafficked and exploited as sex workers, or that sex work is no more exploitative than fast food or Amazon.
Even if that were true (it’s not) no one would work at McDonald’s or an Amazon warehouse if they didn’t need to do so to eat which is… the point. Y’all keep saying “it’s a job like any job” when that’s… the point.
It’s a job like any other that requires its lowest paid and least empowered workers to endure violence, harassment and exploitation like all jobs and if folks didn’t have to do it to get money or weren’t able to exploit others to get money, it wouldn’t exist the way that it does.
