Ok, I've had the night to NOT sleep on it and rationalize Ruby's decision to follow Christilliam and apparently go all in on magic. This is a story of how the writers broke me and #RubyBaptiste . So, here we go... #ChristinaBraithwhite #LovecraftCountry #LovecraftCountryEp9

When we meet Ruby, she's optimistic and has very clear ideas about how her people get ahead. She is executing the hell out of that plan. She has all the education, motivation and determination. She has decided to be a "credit to her race," to just meet the world and be better.

And she's been responsible for Letitia's triflin' ass. Don't @ me. Just because Leti found the Lord and admitted she's a manipulator in episode 7, doesn't erase all the time before when she was lying and conniving. So Ruby is very skeptical of her... with good reason. #fightme

IN SPITE of all this Ruby does decide to trust her sister. Yay! We're making strides. They're going to be sisters again. Singing together and shit. I mean, I could see it so clearly: The Southside Sisters Tour. New leaf, lots of love, beautiful future. All that...

This is #LovecraftCountry , the writers hate us here, so Leti actually lying to Ruby. She then missed the job opportunity...to someone who seems under qualified, someone hired simply because she was the first black woman to apply after the policy change ...on a fucking whim.

Now, they have successfully destroyed Ruby. Everything she believes is shattered. She has made the right choices, done the right thing, but it doesn't matter. None of it matters. And I'm in the corner slowly dying because, she is so precious and must be protected but no one cares

Then in walks Big Willy, a tall skinny papa... LISTENING to her. And Ruby's all, "it's been a rough day, let me see what's up." She doesn't think white "man" is going to save her. What is the point? Hope is gone at this point, she just wants to forget and feel good for a night

"Feel good" seems to be an understatement. My girl gets dark-skinned-fullfigured-flip-yo-ass, stair sex that is hot and dangerous and powerful...I mean, did you see how "he" lifted Ruby? And the music. I just-

Now, I'm in. I mean All. The. Way. In. I don't know where this train wreck is going, but I have paid full price for my ticket, my bags are checked, and I've written ahead that I will be arriving at the station by noon, knowing good and damn well the writers will not allow that.

Then, Ruby wakes up white. And by God this sweet little angel sits on a bench to read a paper and gets a damn job with her privilege. And how precious is that? My girl, just wants to be left alone. To just exist without being interrupted.

She does some other things with her privilege, but I'm not a snitch, so...

She is living her best life. Christilliam is giving her baths, asking about her day, taking her on every surface of the house (this is my tweet and that is exactly what happened) and even Christina shuts the fuck up when asked. So, Ruby is finally winning! This is great!

This is #LovecraftCountry , the writers hate us here. William is Christina. Christina is William. And Ruby is pissed.

As a lesbian, I'm like, "yes! This is even better." I am now actively recruiting other lesbians online, fully knowing this will end in complete disaster. We're used to pain in the media. It will all be fine in the end. #noregrets

In the end, Christina is offering her a chance to be free in the world, but also with her. And she probably isn't ready to let William go quite yet. She asks for the truth and Chrsitina gives it to her. Now, they're partners. No more hiding they can be cometley honest.

Ruby is living her best life again. Reconciling with her sister and relaxing in her own skin. Getting used to magic, probably getting a lil' sum on the side. Life is good. Forget all your troubles and bask in this new world where anything is possible.

Side note: This is where I begin to rationalize to the point of is this real or did I make it up. Christina actually loves Ruby. Christina never lied to Ruby. Christina is going to be good for Ruby in the end. I'm really laying it on and frankly the writers are not helping.

Christina fell in love with Ruby at the block larty during ep 1. Yes, I am making up background and shit at this point, you know really asking for the writers to destroy me... and soon because 2 episodes left, right?

These characters have similar motivations. They both just want to experience life, uninterrupted. They have found respect in each other. They have found a partner in each other. And a safe place to speak their true thoughts and feelings. And I love that for them!

Ruby doesn't owe Tic. She trusts Christina and is comfortable around her, as evidenced by her checking a white woman with magic, constantly. She only cares about her sister and not being used. Once she gets assured of these things...

I, like Ruby, am in denial. This is going to blow up in our faces. We will probably be wrecked by the end of it. But will that stop us from believing in the face of everything that has gone wrong? Nope. #LovecraftCounty #LovecraftCountryEp9 #rubybaptiste #christinabraithwhite
