I am still a member of the Labour Party (I know, I know).

This year I have received email after email advertising zoom discussions invariably & always about 'the disproportionate impact of COVID/the economic crisis on BAME people'. Never 'the impact on working-class people'.
To be clear, there is nothing wrong in and of itself with looking at the impact of the crisis on BAME people, although 'BAME' seems to me to be an odd conflation of v different groups. But one is left with the impression that unless there's a race angle, the Left isn't interested
The least represented group within the Labour Party are white working class men. The demographic that we have spectacularly tanked with electorally is...you guessed it, WWC men. The most educationally disadvantaged group in Britain is...ooh, now, I know this one. Is it WWC boys?
Oh yes, it is! So it would make moral, political and representative sense to tone down the 'EVERYTHING IS ABOUT RACE AND ONLY BLACK OR ASIAN PEOPLE HAVE ANY PROBLEMS' vibe. But we will we do so? Will we buggery
If you are or have recently been a member of the Labour Party, try to picture a white working class man (defined as no university degree/manual or un/semi-skilled worker) under the age of 60 being anything other than utterly indifferent or hostile to Labour. Hard, isn't it?
