okay ngl this is kind of blowing my mind. the left document: today. the right: early 2020. same story, same characters, same first chapter.

this is the difference made by less than a year of practice. if you're practicing, you're improving, even if you can't see it right now.
people usually think of "improving their writing" as stuff on the sentence level--picking and choosing words, improving their vocabulary, etc.

but there's way more to it than that? you learn how to construct scenes. how to weave in worldbuilding. how to create a *whole.*
yeah, sure, i GUESS my writing is better on the sentence level, whatever. but it's what i do with those sentences that's grown. and i hadn't even noticed until I put these two things side by side
