Those who are using these # are asking for the OPTION of shielding being restarted. Not all those who had to shield last time want to shield this time. But that shouldn’t mean that shielding can’t be offered.

2. #Shielding is about the legal employment protection. It’s about being above to work from home, knowing that your employer must comply to this. Some form of financial help if needed. But please hear us the protection to work from home is far more important than money.

3. #Shielding covers social protections like priority delivery slots from shops and priority shopping hours. Some shops have limited how much is now available on these terms.
Delivery of medications. Community understanding of vulnerability.
The social list is long and varied.

4. #Shielding brutal truth.... many of the #ExtremelyVulnerable were told by GPs & medical specialists;
‘If you catch Coronavirus you will probably die.’
‘I’m just calling to discuss a DNAR, have you go one?’
‘I’m not sure we could wean you off ventilation’

Can you imagine this?

5. The #ShieldingSavesLives is all about just that. Having been told that Covid will most likely kill us it’s time to protect us.
‘Us’ however is not who you’d normally consider the sickest. Transplants, taking immuno suppressants, no spleen, cancer, asthma, cardiac problems...

6. ...the list goes on and on.
Very few families are without someone with a medical health condition that Covid could cause problems with.
#ShieldingSavesLives should be something we all understand, that we all accept that those who most want protection should be allowed it.

7. I don’t want to be scary. I just want you to realise don’t dismiss shielding, don’t think it’s locking us away.

We’re not asking for the moon, we’re just asking to be supported, accepted, protected by everyone.

That’s the key word:
