I promised this when Lewis matched his win record, so here you go.

a thread on what Michael Schumacher meant to me.
to start off we need to go back to 1995, my dad was watching the sport, and was more of a Ferrari fan to begin with, but he still liked Michael, who at the time was dominating for Benetton.
however that would all change the following year as Michael Schumacher signed for Ferrari, and from that point on he became a Schumacher fan.
and as time went on his love for Michael grew, and he got to experience one of the most dominant periods in the sports history.
and he always supported him at all times, whether it was the 5 titles, or the rough 2005 season.
I was born during Michael's final year with Ferrari so I never got to experience the dominance, but a few years later around 2009 when I started getting into F1, that's when I realised just how successful he was, and realised how lucky my dad was to experience it.
then when Michael Schumacher signed for Mercedes, me and my dad immediately got excited, and couldn't wait to see him return, and although Vettel was my guy after watching some races in late 2009, I would still support Michael and want him to do well.
whenever Sebastian Vettel retired from a race I would then support Michael and hope he could get a good result, and despite his Mercedes run not being as great, I still have some special memories of him, like Monaco 2012 qualifying.
and without a doubt Valencia 2012, I was raging when Sebastian retired from the lead, but because Michael was still in the race, I begged for him to get a good result, in the end he scored his final F1 podium, which made the rest of the race completely worth it.
then his final race, Brazil 2012, I spent that race hoping for two things, Michael to do well and for Seb to win the title, the race was an emotional roller-coaster on all levels, but in the end, both things came true, and we got this moment post race, I remember crying to it...
at the time, and honestly it still makes me emotional to this day.
end of thread:

thanks for reading, in recap it's sad to see Michael's records go, but in his own words, records are made to be broken.
