Ok, since it's 4:30am and I don't work at the coffeeshop anymore, here are all the celebrities I've served in the 4 years I worked there. Some were regulars, so I kept it private, but most of them don't go there anymore. So here goes:
Sarah Michelle Gellar. One of our most dependable regulars. Even came in costume during Halloween once. Stopped showing up once she started selling mug cakes to Starbucks. 😱
Dave Chappelle. Do not appreciate his queer-unfriendly comedy lately, but he was energetically friendly with all of us and dropped a $20 in the jar every time.
Sebastian Stan. Must have been working nearby, because he visited for about a week and never appeared again. As sweet as he is handsome. I looked him in the eye when taking his iced coffee order and did not stammer or drool, so major victory there.
Nana Visitor. Literally one of the greatest days of my life. I told her Major Kira was one of my biggest heroes, and she took my hands and smiled, and I had a happy energy for days.
Rawle D. Lewis. Junior from Cool Runnings. I think he did comedy at a club nearby. Always chill and happy to chat. We had the same favorite blend, so I usually had it ready for him.
Debra DiGiovanni. I shoved myself in front of another barista to tell her how much she made me laugh.
Paul Klein from LANY. I'm not as familiar with musicians as I am with actors, so someone else had to tell me. I fielded a call to the store once that I figured out was a crazed fan trying to track him down, and I told her to take a hike.
Dylan Minnette. I remembered him as Jack's son from S6 of LOST, which I thought was a thousand years ago, so I was surprised to see him in still-playing-teenagers stage of his career. He made out with his gf the whole time they waited in line.
David Hewlett. It had bee so long since I'd seen Stargate that I didn't figure it out till after he'd sat down with his order. Super high-energy, was herding his kids together, probably going for a day at the beach.
Tobin Bell. I'm uncertain how I knew instantly who he was, because I've never seen the Saw movies. But he was looking frustrated because none of the other baristas were paying attention to him, and I was like, we need to help this dude before one of us wakes up in a bear trap.
Tyra Banks. She was working on that Model Land theme park down the street. Wonder how that's going.
Mary Chieffo. Another Star Trek star! The S2 DISCO premiere had been the night before, and I just happened to be wearing a Star Trek t-shirt. I could recognize her facial structure even though she played a Klingon, and I was like "Are you the Chancellor?!" We fist-bumped.
Kelly Clarkson. I asked her name for her order because I didn't recognize her, and another barista whispered it to me. She was dressed casual for a day out with friends, so I hope I don't lose points on my gay card. Super sweet, tipped A LOT.
Honorable mentions. My heterosexual doppelgÀnger @AnthArmentano served Gwyneth Paltrow at the bar next to mine. She was honestly one of the most patient and polite customers we've ever had.
Clark Gregg came in to the downtown store where I was training. I was counting a drawer in the office and couldn't get out there, but he took pictures with everyone and bought coffee for a homeless person.
When I worked at the Starbucks in Grand Park, I apparently served an Iced Skinny Vanilla Latte to Steve Carrell. I was just pushing drinks out as fast as I could without even looking where they were going, and someone had to tell me later.
That's all I got. I'll add more if I think of any. LA being what is, I've probably served a lot more without realizing it. I've also served a lot of big dudes who were probably pro athletes, but I'd never know.
I remembered another one! Paul Scheer. I spotted him at a distance by his teeth. I wanted to sing the How Did This Get Made theme to him, but he was in deep conversation with a friend. They had a very pleased reaction to my presentation of their drinks.
