A civil rights organisation, YIAGA Africa, has spoken against the preponderance of vote-trading recorded in the October 10 Ondo State governorship election.
The organization said it was alarmed at the way that such an act takes place even in the presence of security operatives.

The Executive Director of YIAGA Africa, Samson Itodo, made this disclosure while speaking on a television station programme on the proceedings of the Ondo Governorship elections.
According to Itodo, YIAGA Africa deployed 646 observers for the election, said, “The vote-buying that we saw in this election is quite disturbing. Nigeria needs a national campaign and a national discussion around vote-buying.”
He added that some polling units became market places where people did all sorts of vote buying and trading of votes.
The organization nonetheless commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for the successful conduct of the election.
