I don't think I'd properly hit on why I'm so angry about this until just now.

I work as a mastering engineer in a studio that I built myself. I put myself into significant debt to do it.

Well, I *had* a back up, which was doing live sound. Something I like to think I'm decent at. Not my first choice career but a decent fallback option.

I now have no back up, because all the events are banned.

And even if/when they restart, I wouldn't want to take work from those who have been without it for so long.

Obviously those who have had their first choice career effectively cancelled by the government are much worse off than me...

...but it all adds up. First choice careers, second choice careers, third choice careers, tenth choice careers, all rendered invalid overnight.

And the government's response is LEARN TO USE A COMPUTER.

Maybe one day, when they finally ban the kinds of financial practises that Rishi Sunak used to short the markets, precipitating the 2008 financial crisis, I can say to him:

LEARN HOW TO EQ A ROOM. THERE'S A FIVE BAND BILL AT THE CARDIGAN ARMS TONIGHT, ONLY 5 OF THE XLR CABLES WORK AND THE LANDLORD'S DOG HAS LEFT A GIANT TURD ON THE STAGE.

Because that's the level they're asking us to enter these new careers at.
