I had some convos with some of our mummies and daddies yesterday trying to get them to show us public support.
For most of them once we crossed the bridge of how this was a legitimate concern, it became clear to me why getting help from them will be tricky.
A bank CEO explained to me banks can’t really criticize police because their operations are basically dependent on the police force. (Another reason cash is evil).
They can’t open most of their branches outside Lagos or move cash without police. Another FMCG board member told me you don’t criticize the cook if you want to stay poison free and his security details outside were his only guarantee of security.
Those convos gave me mad respect for the OG’s raising their voice with us on #EndPoliceBrutality.
The lesson for me : our generation can’t really afford to do work arounds. We just have to fix the entire system or we will lose our voice. Many of them are sha donating to the Feminist Coalition funds as you should (except you are a yahoo boy). http://flutterwave.com/pay/endsars
