Nothing wrong with making a dollar, but it's not a good look if the govt continues to fantasize about being a top10 arms exporter by being the world's 3rd largest importer - like the recent 'fossil fuel-led economic recovery will reduce #GHG emissions' reasoning.

The fact that #ADF assets are being sold by a literal used-car dealership is a very apt metaphor for the whole arms export endeavor. Unfortunately it kinda encapsulates much of #auspol too. You can check the merch on offer below

Bad optics aside, the danger from cut-price #military surplus thru auctions are attractive to unscrupulous parties, ie #PMCs or other armed groups. Defence dept sales are subject to #export controls & I'm not sure if private sales are scrutinised the same way.
