I believe every single Nigerian has been directly or indirectly confronted with an awful situation from the very people who were sworn into duty to protect us. I'm so proud of Nigerians for this #EndSARS movement.
Personally, I haven't had any encounter with #EndSARSBrutality but just recently, people very dear to me were travelling home and saw a group of armed men on the road and the driver of the vehicle sped up out of fear that they were armed robbers.
The men quickly followed them in hot pursuit to the extent the driver had to park in the bush and they all ran into a building for safety.
The men caught up with them and identified themselves as police officers (not dressed in uniforms but armed) #EndSARS
They accused them of being armed robbers and dragged them to the station. The people in question were two young ladies and a man (husband to one of the ladies).
They were detained for hours and asked to identify themselves.
Luckily for them, when the man among them called his last name, the officer recognized someone prominent from his family and they were allowed to have their phones while the other people who were brought in another vehicle were thrown in the cell. #EndSARS
After several hours and phone calls, they were released. Welcome to Nigeria where you have to know someone that knows someone in order to stay alive. #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeria #EndSARS
