red plays donkey kong because he thinks donkey kong is funny. he is not very good at the game yet still beats green, much to his chagrin

green plays palutena because he really wanted to beat the others and looked up a tier list on the internet. it didn't help.

leaf plays fox because she wants to hurt you so bad. she is by far the best at the game of the three.

im skipping gen 2 because there's nothing there okay i wouldn't be putting my heart into it

actually i can't think of anything for gen 3 either. i've never thought about protag characterizations for before. I'm sorry I'm bad at being a fandom person

dawn plays snake. i don't have a reason for this, just feels right. barry fucking hates nikita.

lucas plays R.O.B. because doesn't he just look like a R.O.B. player? barry fucking hates arm rotor.

barry plays ganondorf because he did good with him for like a week when the game came out and thinks he can still do well when his friends have obviously moved past him. wins one game in a rotation and starts talking about how sick and BM he is

onto gen 5 now please note that while i'll try not to project things i probably will and that's okay i love mental illness

hilda plays roy because she loves to press buttons. you know the thing about how roy players are always fighting ghosts? that's her. won't shut up about the term Jair

hilbert plays ike and basically mashes as much as hilda does, but in the ike way rather than the roy way. one brain cell between the both of them

cheren plays richter and insists richter is really cool to everyone else despite the obvious evidence to the contrary. despite getting shit all the time he does pretty good purely by having any patience at all

bianca plays samus because she "wants to be a cool lady like that." she is bad at the video game, but she doesn't get much shit about it despite the unova group being trash talk city

rosa plays wolf because she's a yamcha fan. also shows masher tendencies, never grows out of bad habits because wolf can kind of just do that

nate plays meta knight, because he thinks meta knight is cool. wants to go back and play brawl meta knight someday. everyone hates getting monkey bar'd

hugh plays falcon and WILL NOT SHUT UP about how they need to fix falcon. talks about his initial dash and rockcrocking and whatever else constantly

N plays mega man. he plays on joy-cons for some reason.

skipping gen 6 because i don't care but i want to special mention calem who definitely plays olimar or some shit

elio is not real. sun/moon did not have a male protagonist

selene plays steve. i know the character is not out yet but come on she's obviously such a minecraft kid. gladion hates dealing with steve edgeguarding

hau is like the quintessential "picks kirby and spams down b" person. i know that's overdone with this sort of thing but there's truly nothing else i can imagine him doing

lillie plays banjo. i think they had an n64 before her mom went insane (despite it not being recent by that point) and she has fond banjo-kazooie memories. she camps a lot with eggs but nobody has the heart to get mad at her

gladion plays joker. it brings me no joy saying this. he 100% is a joker player and is also a tryhard in stark contrast to hau

sword and shield time now.

victor is not a real character. sword and shield also did not have a male protagonist.

gloria plays peach and/or daisy, probably daisy. really good at all the float cancel bullshit but also complains pretty loudly about how she can't kill or whatever

bede plays game & watch because he read online that game & watch beats peach and also he's a swineful individual

marnie... i'm sorry but you're not enough of a character for me to have anything at all here

leon plays ryu because he's a 2D fighter guy usually (i think he plays guilty gear though)

hop plays ken because leon plays ryu. hop doesn't think leon realizes. in reality, leon just doesn't say anything about it

and with that i'm officially done being a fandom person. i might do this with melee someday if i get bored enough
