Last year, I graduated with an MPH in Health Equity. I had planned to travel to Boston to attend my graduation, but due to various illnesses, my family no longer was able to come. Although I was sad, I stayed home and took these pics to remember it.
Side note: My classmates and professors later notified me that they chose to award me with the Academic Accomplishment in Health Equity Award for my program.

No matter what happens in my personal life, by God's grace, I excel at the tasks at hand and still end up with a smile.
I'm lowkey writing this as a reminder to myself because I often forget what I've accomplished in this journey. It's easy to when you feel you haven't reached your long term goal.

If you relate to this, take time to remind yourself of your wins, no matter how big or small.
Especially if you come from a marginalized group, there are soooo many other things we deal with behind the scenes that we have to persevere through.

This year, I chose to go to therapy for the first time in my life and it was a LIFE changer.
This may not be the case for everyone, but I no longer suffer from anxiety and depression, because I was able to identify the root causes of it with the help of a psychologist.
I used the tools I was given to disinvest my mental energy from things I couldn't control and invest them in things I can control. It sounds simpler than it was, but therapy helps. At the very least, it gives validation of adverse childhood events...which can be so FREEING. Whew.
Idk how to end this thread except to say, if you have a hard time finding joy or just want to get a better understanding of why you are the way you are, please seek therapy if possible. If you are a student, this is typically covered by tuition and provided through your school.
...and by joy, I don't mean happiness. I mean the unexplainable understanding that at any point in time, things will always work out for the best (even if they aren't in that current moment).
