Lady Gaga's tattoos 💫 a thread ✨
Gaga's first tattoo was when she was 17, and it was a treble clef in the center of her lower back. She used a fake I.D to get it
She got her second tattoo not too long before she got recognised by her first record label. It was a peace sign inspired by the late John Lennon. It is only the right side up to Gaga, upside down to everyone else. The ink reminds her to always keep in mind the important things.
Her third piece of ink was the 3 daises on her left shoulder. It is not known exactly when Gaga got this tattoo, probably around the very start of her career.
For her fourth piece of ink she added the roses next to the clef tattoo and made it into one tattoo. Working their way from the center of her lower back then wrapping around the left side of her waist. Kat Von D created this artwork on Gaga.
Next came Rilke's quote, tattooed in a German script. It translates to, "In the deepest hour of the night, confess to yourself that you would die if you were forbidden to write. And look deep in your heart where it spreads it's roots, the answer, and ask yourself, must I write?"
Very soon after Gaga got the Letters to a Young Poet quote on her inner left arm, she had the date '12/18/1974' inked very small in-between the lines. This was the date her aunt Joanne Germanotta died, which she later named an album after.
Adjacent to her daises tattoo, Gaga then added 'Tokyo Love' to her shoulder, which was handwritten by Nobuyoshi Araki then tattooed onto her skin as it was written. It was to commemorate the first time the Haus worked with the photographer.
Next Gaga added her 'Dad' tattoo on the far left side on her shoulder. She got it after her dad needed open heart surgery. 'Speechless' is partly to do with his struggle with heart problems for years and it convinced him to get the surgery. The tattoo session was also recorded.
Soon after Gaga added her fanbases name "Little Monsters" just underneath of Rilke's quote. She showed it to her fans online after winning two grammys for The Fame, with the caption "Look what I did last night. Little monsters forever. On the arm that holds my mic"
Gaga then tattooed the name of her third album 'Born This Way' in a banner around a unicorn on her left thigh. The lead single, with the same name is about embracing your uniqueness. It soon became an anthem for the LGBTQ+ community. It's also Gaga's favourite mythical creature.
2 years after her last tattoo, Gaga's next album ARTPOP was then tattooed into her skin and a photo was uploaded onto to http://littlemonsters.com  where fans guessed it would be the name of the album. The tattoo is in the font 'Georgia' at size 18.
Not too long after this, Gaga added an anchor to her left ribcage a bit above the roses. She said it was the mark of "His mermaid".
Shortly after that, Gaga got a cherub head inked onto the back of her head for her fragrance launch, The Fame. She got it done inside Guggenheim Museum in front of an audience. The image of the cherub was taken from the Handbook of Ornament, page 108.
Later that year Gaga got R✞︎O tattoed on the left side of the back of her head. The font was made from 3 different fans signatures. It represents how music brings us all together.
The following year Gaga got a mouse with a needle and thread, with 'Nat' at the end of the thread. It was placed on the back of her left arm. Gaga's sisters nickname is mouse, whos actual name is Natali Germonotta. She is a fashion designer, hence the needle and thread.
Gaga's next album, Cheek to Cheek, was with the jazz singer Tony Bennett, who is also an artist. He drew Gaga a trumpet and signed it with his real last name Benedetto. Gaga later got it tattooed on the inside of her right arm.
A few months later, Gaga got the 'Paws Up' gesture tattooed, covered in lace. It was inked on the far left of her back, right over her heart. She captioned the photo showing her monsters, "Thank you for being the pillars that hold up my roof, everything I stand for is in you"
A month or so afterwards, Gaga inked 'Mother Monster' next to her 'Paws Up' tattoo, stretching into her armpit. A lace design was drawn into the design to match to her previous ink. Gaga got this inked for the 5 year anniversary of The Fame Monster.
Nearly 2 years pass before Gaga gets her next tattoo, and it is a tribute tattoo to David Bowie as he passed away that year. She got the ink a day before she performed an iconic tribute to him. Bowie was one of her main icons and took so much inspiration from him.
Soon after, Gaga and 50 survivors of sexual abuse got matching tattoos. The ink is a unity symbol inspired by DNA structure. It's called the 'Fire Rose Unity'. When 'Til it happens to you' was performed in 2016, all of the survivors who got the tattoo shared the stage with Gaga.
Gaga added her fifth album to her body titled 'Joanne'. She got this inked on her inner left forearm in her aunt Joanne's handwritting.
To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Haus of Gaga, Gaga tattooed 'Haus' just above her 'Nat' tattoo on her left arm.
To honor her role in A Star Is Born, Gaga got a large rose with the words 'La Vie en Rose' down her spine. It references the song Gaga sang when Bradley's character first saw Gaga in the film. It was also the song to get her the role when Bradley heard her sing it at Tony's 90th.
Early last year, Gaga got her name 'Gaga' in musical notes, which her manager Bobby got too. Originally the staff had four lines instead of the correct five, so Gaga had to go back and fix the tattoo not long afterwards.
