Want to talk about the under appreciated we’ll-written/powerful woman characters in Tamil cinema

1) Sowmya(Tabu) from from Kandukondain Kandukondain - I like the way that this character was portrayed. Sowmya according to me is a selfless, hardworking and a practical lady.

2) Vasundra(Kajol) from VIP 2 - She is ambitious, stylish, arrogant at the same time understanding

3) Maya(Sherin) from Whistle - Nothing in specific but her performance overall and @immancomposer’s BGM made the character likeable

4) Vembu(Samantha) from Super deluxe - It’s not an under appreciated but it should have been appreciated better. I believe Shilpa’s role over shadowed hers. She being unapologetic about sleeping with her ex-boy friend, having been in multiple love affairs, explaining the reasons

* explaining the reasons for disliking her husband namely bad bathroom habits, snoring and so on. These are all considered to be petty but would definitely put the partner off when they try developing a liking.

5) Chitra(Simran) from Ramana - It always gives me a warmth. We can relate so much to a typical housewife ladies whether it’s your mother, sister or aunt. Simran pulled it off so well.

6) Ragini(Aishwarya Raai) from Raavanan - Dialogues definitely elevated her role. I like the way she developed feelings for Veera with dignity.

7) Bharathi(Genelia) from Velayudham - She’s a selfless and smart young woman

8) Nandhini(Sada) from Anniyan - Dubbing definitely elevated this role. Nothing in specific but it’s just a portrayal of a modern day young woman mindset.

9) Divya(Sneha) from Autograph - It was a popular role during the time of movie release and got vanished in thin air. Divya is an epitome of girl bestie.

10) Shakunthala(Nadhiya) from Thamirabharani - This is my personal favourite. She getting influenced by her father and brother, dying to reconcile and trying to protect her dignity make this a note worthy role.
