One thing that is incredible is that for all the conservatives arguing that adding seats would be the destruction of the Supreme Court and of America itself, almost none are saying that the Senate should hold off on confirming Barrett until we know the election results.
One would think if they truly believe this was a terrible, terrible threat, then they might argue that cramming Barrett through 13 days before an election isn't worth it.
The issue is really that Republicans have convinced themselves that every argument from the other side is either a trick (Ds will pack court either way, so just confirm Barrett) or a bluff (Ds wouldn't dare pack court, so just confirm Barrett). Because that's what GOP would do.
