Once upon a time, down South, I attended to an unbooked policeman's wife. It was on attempting to deliver the placenta, that I actually discovered another baby. We were all fine, until the husband came in, rushed out in euphoria pumped some rapid shots into the air!!

Momentarily, both rotation & revolution of the earth stopped;as I had smeared liquor & vermix all over my afro in an attempt to duck! I could've discovered a new fragnance, because the scent of Davidoff mixed with latex, Jik & Savlon came out unexplainable.

In a show of gratitude, he handed me 2 bottles of stiff drinks; to supplement the fumes I had inhaled off his breath. In response to my expression of displeasure for the scare he gave us, he replied that the gun was his closest ally and shooting easiest form of expression.

He said "Doki, no vex; you know say dis gun na our everything; na our saviour, provider, & padi for jungle...we dey use am take chop, celebrate..."! Hardly had he finished speaking, that his colleagues drove in & cracked some more shots! In utter exasperation, I had to beg them!

As I recollect this his eulogy of his rifle, I couldnt agree less, with the statement that 'when all a man has is a hammer, every problem looks like nails'. The police are akin to our political money bags; they only have one thing to show.

Call it a developmental flaw, or an shared malady; they have nothing else to show! Lo, perhaps owing to difference in production lines, we're all but slightly different products of thesame system, having our character development terminated at varying stages as privileged!

Altogether, we've built a society that has entirely demented on morals & values. Until a value reorientation touches every aspect of our systems, the already flourishing vicious cycle is but the bane of our nation. Reorientation, not rebranding or reshuffling!!
