I want to do a thread here on something I find hard to talk about. Not for any emotional reason; just that I find we don& #39;t have adequate words in our language. I end up banging my head against the limits of what I know how to express.

Anyway, this thread is about the US election, and luck, and randomness, and polls.
Basically I don& #39;t think we do a very good job of talking about luck. Consider baseball. If Team A beats Team B in baseball, was it luck or was it skill? The answer is complicated.
