I believe it’s about time our maktabs took a different approach as to how they teach quran. I don’t see how children are supposed to develop a connection with the Quran by merely just reading and memorizing.

Without having a clue about what the Ayaat mean. The fact that we send out children for two and a half hours, 5 days a week from the age of 5-15 and they walk out not understanding any tafseer whatsoever is appalling.

It’s about time we introduced some kind of tafseer and reflection classes in which children may develop love, comfort, a connection and a greater understanding of the Quran.
