A few weeks ago I was troubleshooting a PlayStation that would not turn on. Issue there was a corroded power supply. @A3rgan sent me this to rob parts from 👍But after cleaning the laser with IPA it’s functional. So let’s clean this up, power supply is on order instead.
Something is preventing the lid locking mechanism from springing back. My guess is filth.
For those who like to know these details. Here’s the serial number/model number etc.
First look inside and more grime.
This was meant to be used as a donor power supply for the one to the left.

Perfect for that, see the corrosion.

But plans changed.
Getting to the motherboard. Just a little dust but mainly the shield has kept a lot off.
Base also in great shape. No mods.
It’s bath time.
The lid mechanism doesn’t need a full tear down , just the button. It’s really responsive like this. Saves time.
Behind the ears. In the belly button.
Air dry time.
Mechanism no longer sticking.
Starting reassembly.
Further assembly. Didn’t go crazy with the power supply, used an anti static brush to clear some dust. And an alcohol wipe to clean the metal shield of grime.
More assembly. Refitting the cables and the CD player.
You shall go to the ball.
Before / After.

The end.
