Once you read it, and only then, I recommend this thread where you can see a NYT Pulitzer reporter (a day before his team broke another massive report on Trump taxes btw) also making similar observations. https://twitter.com/nickconfessore/status/1314562450105282560
None of these journalists name the culprits who used their influence to mislead the public while likely not having even read the full UK, Canada reports last yr: @benedictevans @mtaibbi @ggreenwald @afneil stand out as causing misinfo, minimizing the case as a âhoax.â
And @carolecadwalla makes a small reference in this thread to journalists who had to jump in and cover so unintentionally missed the depth and nuance of what really happened. https://twitter.com/carolecadwalla/status/1315261244295778305
Regardless, nothing excuses Facebookâs role in scandal and their cover-up of it. Facebookâs DC PR office further disgraced itself this week with @andymstoneâs critical tweets of Cadwalladr and the two dozen experts on @FBoversight working to provide oversight of FB.
As an example, if you havenât read the Canadian Commissionerâs report on AIQ, the SEC complaint, or the actual ICO report last year, maybe yâall need to make some phone calls before reporting or weighing in. https://www.oipc.bc.ca/investigation-reports/2363
And certainly make sure to watch the @Channel4News blockbuster report two weeks ago. https://www.channel4.com/news/revealed-trump-campaign-strategy-to-deter-millions-of-black-americans-from-voting-in-2016
Here is another reporter who actually tracked and reported on the matter from the beginning noting same issues with @ggreenwald https://twitter.com/issielapowsky/status/1314545439476273158
And on the positive side, there is an attorney general (DC) who is still pursuing this case hard focused on Facebookâs role and cover-up. He deserves your attention and support. Trust he wonât settle as the FTC and SEC did on matters of democracy for a mere $5B and change. https://twitter.com/jason_kint/status/1314173784920858626
And I will close with @carolecadwallaâs thread. She is relentless continuing to press for light and truth where significant forces have worked to cover-up their wrongdoing. In a case where complexity and messiness of truth-finding have often been weaponized against her.

Adding this thread from @profcarroll whose case the UK data commissioner called groundbreaking for data rights. He also accurately describes case and breaks some news that the servers are being re-examined based on the evidence acquired and reported on by @Channel4News. https://twitter.com/profcarroll/status/1315289018310045697
Iâll append these comments here. I only chose a few examples of why you should dismiss this âdefinitive history.â Itâs not at all. Countless other examples lie within it. https://twitter.com/jason_kint/status/1315648580410052609
Hey @jamesrbuk, no doubt this was a complex investigation involving Canada, UK, US FTC, SEC and several state AGs (very much ongoing
). Your âdefinitive historyâ over the weekend is a hot mess for those who have indeed tracked the fact-finding and real implications. https://twitter.com/jason_kint/status/1315648580410052609
