The girl child is still one of the most abused living things in #SouthSudan. Today, on #DayOfTheGirl I promise you to keep my word. You deserve more and you deserve better. I'll keep fighting for you to be the best version of yourself. I can promise you that much, sister đź’›
Last year I went to Nile International to speak on Menstrual Hygiene, my baby girls were not interested in what I was saying. I asked "What would you like me to speak to you on?" And one girl said "We'd like you to listen to us instead of coming and telling us what you want"
I'm an attitude type of a woman so I was definitely now listening. Another girl asked me "Aren't you a model? And you do like fashion stuff?" Lol, I said "something like that". They said they wanted to have a creative arts day. At this point I am IN LOVE.
I gathered creatives, and we spent hours and days rehearsing, my favorite was @AdeThaTruth poetry team. They spoke better than the eldest of us in this country. I had a leading team of 10 babygirls and one of them said to me "we really needed you, thank you"
Now that I think back, the leadership they've shown me, the demand from the start, the way they involved around 250 students, including ages of 8, the HOPE they gave me, maybe they needed me but maybe I needed them.
The girl child is the brightest living thing in this country and I say that with my entire chest đź’›
