In the 1837, Russia's first railway line run from St Petersburg to 'Vauxhall gardens'. The 1st station, named 'Vokzal', became the Russian word for 'train station'. Since then, Vauxhall / vokzan spread from Ukraine to Uzbekistan

A London urban legend has it that a Russian government delegation came to London in mid-19th century, saw Vauxhall Station, found it so impressive they decided to call their stations in its honour... (not true, though)
