Every know and then someone on here posts the photo of me and my uncle in Kurdish women clothing with a half insult attached to it. I don’t understand what’s so funny about men wearing women clothing.
But they don’t even bother to read up on what it was for. It was a campaign after a Kurdish man in Merîwan was sentenced to “public humiliation” by Iranian aouthoraties which meant he was paraded through the streets in a Kurdish dress.
The response was that thousands of Kurdish men around the world put Kurdish dresses on and posted it online to say that womanhood, especially Kurdish womanhood, is not a symbol of shame and humiliation. It was one of the most beautiful Kurdish campaigns in my opinion.
The only offensive thing in this photo is my hair 😤
