As a wheelchair user (in pre-COVID times) I relied on chains like Starbucks and Costa because they would *usually* have a ramp and accessible loo.

Independents - more often - aren’t accessible (just like the one in this pic).

Image alt on OP: two neighbouring storefronts, a Costa and an independent coffee shop called The Colombian. The independent is filled with people and many are sat outside, while Costa is empty.
Another example - when the Nando’s arrived in Stoke Newington there was an absolute outcry. How dare a CHAIN be put on the perfectly independent Church Street?!

It’s the ONLY accessible toilet on that road.

I don’t really like chains either but i like being able to pee.
