Thread - Fav memory of @SrBachchan - was given a heads up of 30 minutes to interview him. Seeing how nervous I was Editor-in-chief tells me there is a controversy raging so he won& #39;t give you too much time, don& #39;t worry.

Since I was into politics and not an entertainment journalist I knew very little in terms of facts and this is 12 years ago. So I did whatever research I could (20 odd questions) and went for it. I waited as @RajeevMasand and @anupamachopra interviewed him before me.

The interviews were part of the promotions for The Last Lear and that very morning there had been protests against Amitabh Bachchan by the MNS over some remarks made by Jaya Bachchan and posters of the film had been ripped off in several parts of Mumbai

Right before I went in I heard someone say that he is upset about the controversy and is not really in the mood for interviews. A part of me was hoping that he would cancel.

It was my turn next. Sat opposite the superstar and I could barely speak. I think my hands were shaking. Here& #39;s a legend in front of me but I was blank.

I don& #39;t know how I started but I am pretty sure he realised how nervous I was. And Mr Bachchan just spoke and spoke. From the time he started out in Mumbai, his early struggles - the interview went on for close to an hour. I had nothing to do with it.

It wasn& #39;t me. I had fumbled through my questions and my video editor even remarked that & #39;Bachchan Saheb ko aap per reham aa gaya& #39;. Sharief the video editor salvaged it. I had made quite a mess but it was Mr Bachchan who had saved me
