(1/10) When we see a problem, we react & try to make a +ve difference. In the quest, we have been right as well as wrong numerous times. But the rights have been more than wrongs, coz we have tried more.
(2/10) Mass market gives large scale outcomes. Our target consumers (initially) wasn& #39;t the top 20-30 Mn credit card users in India.
(3/10) We targeted the next 100 million people who are not vocal about spending. There are 6 Mn hotels in India catering to the next 400-600 Mn people.
(4/10) Customers want 3 values - reliable experience, fair deal & want to know the location. Technology helps us to deliver all these values & brings down time & cost.
(5/10) We enable technology to lead decision making and not just suggest or recommend stuff.
(6/10) Refunds can make or break the product. We have enabled auto-refund for users who have stayed at Oyo before. We leverage trust to build great user experience.
(7/10) Every aspect of Oyo runs on Oyo OS. Oyo OS is just not another hotel management system. Our OS automates stuff like recommending room to the customers instead of hotel staff doing it manually.
(8/10) We know the employee behaviour is key to the hospitality business. We have created a low cost solution - Oyo buddy to train semi-skilled blue collar workers.
(9/10) The success of one new employee is linked to the old employee. The app suggests them the next steps in case of guests complaint/issues. This all makes Oyo a great place for 1st job.
(10/10) The best companies were made during the slowdown. (Airbnb, Amazon) No one likes a slowdown but that doesn’t mean you should abandon fishing when it’s a storm. When the storm gets over, you can scale to your advantage like no one else.
