Reading my mom’s diary from 1962. My dad had just split w/ Jack Burns. He’s opening at the Gate of Horn as a solo act. Mom shops & gets her hair done & irons a lot.

Apparently, in Denver, the restaurants aren’t very good - bad, fair & poor. But she & dad go drive up to the mountains and love it.

One night dad had a heckler!!! (Her exclamation marks) Another night he did so well mom said he was “a winner!!!”

And she painted? I knew she did in the 70s but had no idea back then.

Got to the entry where her mother has breast cancer and must get surgery. One year later she’ll die 6 weeks before I’m born.

No entries from 7/27-10/26 then: “Went to clinic & was given a frog test- it turned out positive. George & I are going to be parents!” Mom is 23, dad 25.
