April 4, 1968, a tragic event occurred which will always be an impression on the hearts of human rights defenders. On that day, Dr. Martin Luther King, a pioneer of the equality movement, was shot dead on the balcony of room 306 Lorraine Motel.
On that fateful day, Dr. Martin Luther King was actually scheduled to give a speech at Mason Temple in Memphis. The night before, Dr. Martin Luther King stayed at the Lorraine Motel in room 306. At exactly 6:01 pm that time, Dr.
Martin Luther King who was standing on the balcony of his room was shot from outside the hotel. One hour later, Dr. Martin Luther King was pronounced dead at St. Hospital. Joseph.
This film tries to reproduce the incident through the narrative of Pastor Billy Kyles, who was less than two meters from Dr. Martin Luther King.
This 32-minute film produced by director Adam Pertofsky managed to qualify as one of the five 2009 Oscar nominations for the short documentary film category.
However, before bringing the trophy, the long film, THE WITNESS FROM THE BALCONY OF ROOM 306, still had to compete with four other nominations.
