👨🏻‍🔬dyed a pair of Clarks today for the first time👨🏻‍🔬

How it began: How it went:
A few months back I saw these at a thrift store and, as Ghostface once said, I had crazy visions. Instead, I settled on a more modest kelly green. They had some black oily/ inky spots, so the first thing I did was spend an hour or so cleaning with a suede brush. Before and after.
Next step was painters tape around the crepe sole and the bottom of the suede upper. Once I had it covered, I gently took a box cutter to the crevice between, allowing me to strip the tape, and giving me a clean line for the dye.
I used Fiebing’s Kelly green, though it’s hard to tell when still damp—suede dyes look darker when wet. After brushing them with dye I let them dry for about half an hour, did some touch-ups, let dry again, scraped with the suede cleaning brush again and voila: Kelly green Clarks
