AJW shows in chronological order - found a YT account that has uploaded a load of AJW dvds in crisp quality and I'm going to watch them in order
First up is AJW Wrestlemarinepiad 1990. The date is 1990.11.14

I would have been seven at the time and completely oblivious to this world of wrestling. Instead I was watching Hogan vs Warrior 🤦‍♂️
I'm going to watch all the prematch interviews and backstage segments even though I've not got a clue what's being said. First match is Etsuko Mita & Mima Shimoda vs Kaoru Maeda & Mika Takahashi
Starts with the typical AJW interview where the chap talks to each team in turn and all the competitors look either incredibly young or anxious or a mixture of both.
Scarily Shimoda is still wrestling and turns up frequently in SEAdLINNNG. She's nearly 50 and she's in much better condition than I have ever been in...
They're not known by the name yet but Mita and Shimoda would go on to become Las Cachorras Orientales. The Asian Bitches (rough translation).

Why do Japanese tag teams have the greatest ever wrestling names? Someone should do a podcast purely on that @PuroPodcast ahem
Maeda and Takahashi come out in fetching alternating neon yellow and pink outfits. There are some young girls in the ring who looked like they had won a school competition to be there. Wonder if any ended up taking up wrestling?
Actually, it looks more and more like they should be in a Jane Fonda workout video. Just missing the leg warmers.
Some funny looking head scissors going on which already confirms everything that you know about joshi. That they were busting their backsides working while roided up monsters were mostly immobile in the US
The one thing that is jarring is that the camera angle is virtually in the ring. Extreme close ups and bordering on wwe shaky cam. Lots of zooming in and out, virtually no hard cam angles.
The other thing to note is that the ring looks stiff as fuck. Like it's been imported directly from Tijuana.
Match so far is a nice pace but Mita gets tagged in and there isn't a huge cheer but there are a few absolutely frenzied screams. There's a couple of kids absolutely going nuts like they've just jammed a million skittles in their mouth and had Pepsi shoved in their nostrils.
Fucking extreme shakicam needs to get to fuck though
Absolutely oof. Reverse surfboard submission and Mita just takes a heel right to the back of the dome and just shakes it off.
Boston crabs always look absolutely useless in these type of young girl joshi matches because they're so flexible it doesn't look painful!
Some dodgy tagging in going on though. Virtually in the ring before the token hand slap. Have a word ref...
And stupidly I've just realised that Kaoru Maeda is the absolutely amazing KAORU who likes to hit people with objects and is still absolutely killing it today. She's 51 and I love her
Into the finishing stretch and there is some double teaming shenanigans before Mita hits a beautiful northern lights suplex and those kids previously mentioned just explode with pure joy and vomit.
Match overall was OK, nothing terrible and you can see that all four women were at the start of their careers. There's some talking after the match and Shimoda looks like she breaks kayfabe and just hugs Takahashi before pulling away.

Rating ⚔️⚔️⚔️
More backstage talking and a greased up Alundra Blayze just gives an absolutely terrible promo by saying "we are invincible, we are defeatable"... Alright love
And just to confuse me the description on YT is different to Cagematch which seems different to the running order of the show...
So match 2 (or is it?) is

Bison Kimura & Madusa Miceli vs Mariko Yoshida & Yumiko Hotta
Hotta is still wrestling and that scares me because she scares me
Madusa does an absolute brilliant strength move by hoisting up Yoshida and parading her around the ring before dumping her in the ring. She then kills that good work by doing a comedy building up momentum arm swing to punch hotta. Just needed a 'boink' graphic
Fucking shakicam is back
Madusa does it again but to make it even worse she's about three time zones away from connecting on the punch so looks even more ridiculous
First incident of bridging our of a pin in a joshi match so far. Cross that off your bingo card folks
Madusa tries to sneak a lead pipe to Bison behind the refs back. Bison then just wallop Hotta with it in front of the ref and keeps using it. Ref doesn't give a shit and medusa looks confused
Interesting spot where bison whips Yoshida into the corner Hotta is in who tags in and then starts beating the piss out of Bison. Bit of a schoolboy error that one
Bit of a nothing end as some interference by Madusa let's Bison pin Yoshida. The crowd was way more invested in the opener than this one. ⚔️⚔️🗡️
No idea how but Madusa ends up talking backstage with a busted up nose. Looked broken. I've tried watching the end of the match and I just can't see how she's done it. She's doing the JJ strut in the ring, gets chased out and then walks to the back. 🤷‍♂️
Guy talking is like wtf have you done and then Madusa gives an even worse promo. Its up their with Zandig Jesus, Bulldog Rumble and Luger t-shirt promo.

"YOU SHOULD STUDY A NEW PROFESSION, and that's MwuahHAHAKKJJJJJNHH HAHAHAHAHA" and that's a literal quote.
Next up is WWWA Tag Team Title:
Akira Hokuto & Suzuka Minami vs Kyoko Inoue & Manami Toyota (2 out of 3 falls).

Backstage Toyota gives an interview in the quietest little mouse voice.
Hokuta isn't in her full devil gear, she's instead wearing traditional Japanese gear. Inoue on the other hand looks like a court jester in possibly the worst outfit of the evening.

Ref seems to get a whole introduction for themselves.
Weird start to the match where Inoue shoves Toyota out of the ring but Toyota hits the ring post and just falls over and looks at Inoue as of if to say 'seriously, wtf love'
Hokuto and Minami are wrestling barefoot and I don't know why but in wrestling that just creeps me out.
