just because some of y’all can’t get laid doesn’t mean you have to ban elf tiddy for the rest of us. grow up.
there are valid critiques of the trend of sex and sexualization for the sake of being edgy, but like. nudity and the occasional “intimate scene” doesn’t inherently “ruin” tolkien’s works or whatever
like you realize. tolkien himself fucked. he had characters who fucked. he wrote elven marriages as being like. cemented by the act of fucking. it’s not as if there is. no sex in middle earth.
and yes if it’s done just to emulate GoT or be edgy or whatever that’s a problem. but the problem isn’t in the sex and nudity and shit, it’s in the attitude surrounding it
and there is a valid critique of many nudity/sex scenes being done in a way that treats women as sex objects but again that is the. larger principle of the thing not each individual application. if that makes sense?
also anyway dark and gritty isn’t inherently against lotr. the point of lotr is hope and perseverance and love, but those themes NEED dark moments to... you know.... be effective in the first place.
anyway the point of this is don’t get all atwitter over amazon putting out casting calls for actors comfortable w nudity and hiring someone to coordinate “intimate scenes” because ultimately we do not know the application or how prevalent this shit will be
it’s fine to be wary or on guard bc of how modern media treats sex and nudity but ultimately we don’t know the creative direction, so like.... don’t preemptively judge, especially not when your judging based on values you superimpose on tolkien
