going to the footy today

son: do you have an all blacks flag, daddy?
me: yeah somewhere, son
son: can I take it to the game?
me: I’m not sure where it is, but I do have this one
*pulls out tino rangnatiratanga flag*
son: wow, can I take that to the rugby?
me: oh I dunno son...

son: have you taken it to an all blacks game before, daddy?
me: yeah son
son: so why can’t I take it?
me: because it makes the ballheads nervous
son: what’s nervous mean?
me: a bit like being scared
son: why are they scared of a flag?
...

me: because sometimes people are scared of things they don’t understand
son: well maybe they should learn about it and then they won’t be so scared, daddy
me: my man
