This actually happens a lot. It takes a long time for a ginko to display its sex (decades) and it's also pretty common for them to just randomly switch sexes so it's pretty common to accidentally get a female tree with its stinky fruit. https://twitter.com/iwsm/status/1315035494019862528?s=20
