Ginko trees are not only beautiful, they're also incredibly cool. They're known as "living fossils" the sole surviving species of trees that grew BEFORE the dinosaurs! The trees are extinct in the wild, but grow all around the world thanks to human cultivation. https://twitter.com/coolchicblonde/status/1314763064009465856
This would be like if brontosaurus went extinct but humans today still kept them as pets.

There's a fossil record of ginko leaves from >200 million years ago.

They're often planted in cities since all their natural predators are extremely extinct so they are super hardy.
I love them so much.
Imagine living so long that everything that evolved to eat you has gone extinct and so you're basically impervious to disease and infestation.

Nobody has won the survival of the fittest game like the ginko tree.
This actually happens a lot. It takes a long time for a ginko to display its sex (decades) and it's also pretty common for them to just randomly switch sexes so it's pretty common to accidentally get a female tree with its stinky fruit. https://twitter.com/iwsm/status/1315035494019862528?s=20
