Imagine how different things could be with a proper, working, effective and fast test and trace system

Never forget how much this sheer incompetence is hurting us all
In other countries they are getting back to normal, they’re holding sports events with crowds, concerts are going ahead and hospitality businesses are doing well

It didn’t have to be like this
I’ve seen people having a go at Starmer for continually going on about testing at PMQs, but it could not be more important
If our testing system was anything like it should be, we wouldn’t need ever changing lockdowns and we wouldn’t have increasing calls for herd immunity and this polarising and grim debate
‘Stop boring on about that one thing that would both save lives and stop businesses going bust’
See also, imagine if we’d funded and empowered our knowledgable local public health teams, who already know how to test and trace for things like STIs and measles, to do this rather than private companies who are continually failing
