A thread about how Every DLC Fighter in Super Smash Bros. from 3DS/Wii U thru Ultimate arguably deserves their position in the series as a playable fighter.

Yes, even Corrin and Byleth.
Ryu is the mascot character of the Best Selling Fighting Game of all time (before Ultimate), and his moveset is simple and easy to understand compared to most of the Street Fighter cast. In that regard, Ken, who replicates this moveset, makes sense as his Official Clone Fighter.
While his Nintendo presence is minimal at best, Cloud stars in the most famous entry of the Final Fantasy series, and makes the most logical and financial sense to choose for Smash. Plus, the Limit Break mechanic is fitting for the frenetic gameplay.
Fire Emblem Fates may not be everyone's favorite entry, but Corrin does mix up the Fire Emblem Fighter archetype by providing Dragon morphing in their moveset similar to Robin's magic. Plus, Fates made money, so using Corrin as a marketing tool seemed like...well, fate.
Bayonetta 2 exists because Nintendo provided funding for Platinum, so her debut in Smash felt guaranteed. Her Gunplay and Skimpiness could be toned down, and her combos made for fun and hectic fights, even if they did need to be heavily nerfed going into Ultimate.
Persona 5 is probably the most famous entry of its kind at time of posting, and Sakurai's a huge fan, so giving them a Fighter was a good choice. Plus, the codename "Joker" and use of a knife/gun as opposed to a sword, seemed to make him the most eligible. Arsene's great, too.
Dragon Quest is one of the best-selling Traditional JRPGs of all time, so their inclusion makes sense. Having an avatar that alternates between different Protagonists is a great way to represent the series overall, as is the Magic System. Hero is a good fit for Smash.
Banjo-Kazooie was originally Nintendo, and Microsoft is strongly supporting Nintendo nowadays, so it was only a matter of time until they got an IP in Smash. What better way to appeal to the BK purists than to select moves from the first two games? Rare is very proud, I imagine.
Sakurai going to the Arcade to play SNK games was the inspiration for Smash, so Fatal Fury's Terry seems like a great fit. He has more of a complex moveset than Ryu or Ken, but faithfully representing aspects such as his Commands and Supers is what Smash is all about, after all.
Fire Emblem Three Houses sold incredibly well and won awards since its release, so Byleth was inevitable, despite protests. Representing the game's customizable units by giving them four weapons to work with is fresh for the "Anime Sword Club," you must admit.
Better late than never for ARMS to get a rep. Out of the whole cast, Min Min, with her kicks, Dragon Arm and three signature weapons, makes the most mechanical sense for Smash. And this is coming from someone who bet on Dr. Coyle to get in. They really changed the rules with her.
I honestly expected a Mii Costume, but with its status as Worldwide Best Seller, and an entire world of features I wasn't aware of, Minecraft arguably deserved representation in Smash. Steve & Alex are a great choice for a Fighter with intriguing micromanagement to make use of.
I'll probably use standalone Tweets to describe the Smash worth of the remaining four DLC Fighters, since it would be a pain to dig up this thread, but when you think about it, every fighter is deserving in one way or another to be in this series.
