a thread about art etiquette on twitter since i feel like a lot of people may not know how to go about interacting with art
this thread isn't meant to shame anyone, it's just advice to follow!!
first, liking art tweets is the quickest way to show an artist you like their work! i say always like any art you enjoy!
next, replying to art with compliments is something i know all artists appreciate!
even if the artist doesn't like your reply or comment on it, i can almost guarantee they saw it and it made them smile!
in general, i try to avoid complimenting artists using memes, unless i am personally mutuals/friends with them. memes don't always translate properly, especially if the meme isn't in the artist's first language or if they are neurodivergent
then, retweeting is something artists will always appreciate. retweeting gets that artist's art to an audience they may not have otherwise reached!
retweeting is the biggest way you can show an artist you like their art for free! it costs nothing to retweet someones art and show them you like their art enough to share it with your followers
however, avoid quote retweeting an artist's art at all costs, unless they have given you express permission, like doing a promo or for shout outs.
quote retweets take away interactions from the original post, and twitter boosts posts with more interactions, meaning quote retweets are basically taking interactions from the original art!
speaking of how interactions boost tweets, always try and interact with art you like as much as you can! try liking, replying, and retweeting! this shows twitter you think it's a good post that other people should see!
overall, be kind and go show artists some love!!! <3
