There is a subtle way that this observation/choice of words implies that bodies free from the fluctuations of menstruation related hormones is the “norm.” https://twitter.com/_chxo/status/1314242118718717962
I have felt this way about my cycle + hormones before. But the fact is that my WHOLE cycle, in all its ebbs and flows is, NORMAL.

I’m now realizing that capitalism + patriarchy + white supremacy require the subordination of my body. It defines the normal as aberrant.
The way that patriarchy and white supremacy teaches me that my body as a menstruating person is an aberration—as if non menstruating people and men don’t have hormone cycles that impact their moods and behaviors etc.

It’s all lies.
Even the way that we say that men, too, must be on their “period” when they are engaging in authentic emotional expression or are “moody.”

The hate is so deeply ingrained in us.
I’m certain that the intensity of the cis-women’s experience of emotional cycles is not only exacerbated by, but likely caused by cis gendered men’s refusal/inability to feel, process, express, or name their feelings.
