I see we are having the conversation about Timothy McVeigh and the Unabomber this morning, which always frustrates me because they could NOT be more different. Is it possible McVeigh had PTSD? Yes.

However, bomb making and mass murder is not a symptom of PTSD. He was an angry white supremacist. I have zero sympathy for him. The Unabomber I actually do have sympathy for. He was a paranoid schizophrenic who fell through the cracks.

This conflation is only less irritating to me as when people speak of Andrea Yates and Susan Smith as though they are the same. That one really bugs me. Not at all the same.
