DRACO MALFOY

Pretty late to get into Potter fandom I reckon as middle-aged men go

Lately, goofing around with the series I came to the realisation how he was widely misunderstood as a pop culture thirsted over villain.
Here's what I never saw about him in my childhood

(+)
Draco as shown always for his contempt for Harry, he actually liked him and cared for him

As smug he was in childhood, he became pretty resentful as he grew up.
He wanted to be friends with Harry

But he had this ’never good enough for his father’ issue he carried with himself
+
If he hadn't joined the Deatheaters, Voldemort wouldn't shy killing his family

The ’villain’ tone was actually his father’s because he and his Mom saved Harry several times

You can see him trying to save Harry while not giving away his identity in Malfoy manor when asked

+
A bonus deleted scene I discovered recently

In the climax,
Draco throws the wand at Potter while running towards him shouting ”Potter” as well as soon he realises he is not dead

He wouldn't have changed sides if his mom wouldn't have called him in the final standoff

+
I believe he yearned for the love everyone had for Harry.
He just wanted to be acknowledged

Dumbledore said he knew a boy who made all the wrong choices but I believe he never had a choice at all

I believe I know someone like him. Maybe you know too

He is us.
He is me
