Sitting at the Carleton locks and feeling so angry that this infrastructure hasn& #39;t been improved to help kids, parents with children, and older/less able people.
I watched a couple carry their bike trailer over. This is not acceptable infrastructure.

Heavy use though suggests that an actual bridge option would be an exceptional return on investment, even in the category of ped/bike bridges in Ottawa which have all done that.
I& #39;ve been here like five minutes and I estimate 50 people or more have crossed. It& #39;s a constant stream. These locks work for almost none of them, really.
Guy with a fancy road bike but a bad leg, limping over. Locks don& #39;t work for him.
Guy currently carrying his baby in a stroller over. Locks don& #39;t work for him, either.
Young guy on roller blades trying to negotiate stairs without faceplanting. Yup, don& #39;t work for him.
Older woman patiently waiting her turn to cross buy gets pipped by young guy who runs his bike up. Locks only work for one of them.

I think I might be up around 100 people by now if I was counting. Many more steering well clear of the locks, possibly because they have better crossing options with Flora.
Two guys with *heavy* looking ebikes.
They manage but it& #39;s awkward. One almost falls over. Good thing they& #39;re not, you know, elderly or something.
