Caring for our mental health is very important. We cannot be in optimal health if our mental health suffers.

Here are 7 things you can do to care for your mental health:

1. Exercise to keep the body & mind fit and alert.

2. Eat healthily. Cut back on junk food, alcohol consumption, smoking, & fatty foods. It’s also important to eat in moderation.

3. Socialize with family & friends as much as possible. Never underestimate the importance of human interaction.

4. Incorporate breaks into your daily activities. Take breaks off social media if it is also becoming too toxic.

5. Start a hobby. It could be something you were doing before or something new you want to learn such as pottery.

6. Spend some time meditating. It can be as short as 5 minutes or as long as 1 hour. Taking time to centre yourself during meditation can help clear your worries and make you relaxed.

Most importantly, seek help when needed.

Don’t be afraid to do this as it takes a lot of courage to admit that you need help. Find a therapy process that is best suited to you & your needs. Stick to it religiously & be assured that you would recover in no time.
