A Gothic cat's head, from the Église Saint-Étienne de Dun-sur-Auron. Great character design, perhaps, for a cartoon cat.

Jean Poittier's shot of a modernist cat in Grigny, a southern suburb of France, 1976. Some cats seem to be very much aware of their decorative effect.

Is this an oddly-shaped house-cat at the feet of a martyred St. Sebastien, or an oddly-shaped miniature lion? A detail from a Gothic stained-glass window, in the Église paroissiale Saint-Nizier in Troyes.

I love this shot so much. It's pretty much the perfect writer's studio: Willy Ronis took this at the home of his friend, the writer Georges Borgeaud, in August 1954. A perfect view, past the kitty, of the fields of Provence, outside Gordes.
