NEW: In part 4 of The President& #39;s Taxes, my colleagues and I report on how Trump transplanted Washington& #39;s favor-seeking to his family’s hotels & resorts — earning millions as a gatekeeper to his own administration. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/10/10/us/trump-properties-swamp.html">https://www.nytimes.com/interacti...
We found over 200 companies, special-interest groups and foreign governments that patronized Trump properties while reaping benefits from him and his administration. Nearly a quarter of those patrons have not been previously reported.
Tax data shows that just 60 customers with interests at stake before the Trump administration brought his family business nearly $12 million in the first two years of his presidency.
That is merely *a snapshot* of the special interest money flowing through Trump Org.
In this installment of The President& #39;s Taxes, you& #39;ll learn:
* How Trump steered a lucrative contract to Michael Cohen amidst the Stormy Daniels scandal, during a meeting at Mar-a-Lago
* How an Australian billionaire bragged of using his club membership to influence Trump
* How Trump welcomed his Mar-a-Lago patrons to press him for favors, and even accepted draft Tweets
* How Washington& #39;s biggest-Trump-era lobbyist, Brian Ballard, came to join Mar-a-Lago.
* How Trump& #39;s super PAC helped promote membership at Trump& #39;s private club.
