"Militia" is not a positive or favorable label and hasn't been in decades. In fact, refusing to use it to apply to violent plots like this whitewashes it's current, negative meaning.

How many of you think we should no longer parse between Islamic terrorists and eco-terrorists, for example, or make a distinction between state actors and non? Should be label all of them terrorists and not trouble ourselves with the crucial differences that separate their acts?
