At what age/grade does it start being appropriate to read aloud books with LGBTQIA+ characters to students?

Does it change based on how far into the school year it is?

Follow up question...
Does your answer change if there's a parent complaint b/c a book portrays 2 dads & they feel it's not the school's place to "teach this" to young children b/c their Christian beliefs do not condone & they haven't talked with their child about it yet?

To clarify: Came from complaint after I read aloud pic book w/2 dads. Was looking for more insights in how to defend.
I stand adamantly against censorship & no one's humanity should be up for debate.
All students deserve to be seen, supported, & affirmed in read alouds all year.
