the hyper sexualization and objectification of black women in Egypt (a thread)
tw//racism, sexual assault
this thread is in no way contributing to the erasure of experiences shared by many if not all women of all races nor is it an oppression Olympic but rather an opportunity to raise awareness about a reality that is overlooked and experienced by many black women in Egypt
"i want mixed babies"
"i wont date a black women but I'd sleep with one"
"i love black women because of their bodies "
"I'll make you my slave "
"you should get lighter or men won't find you attractive "
"are you hardcore? "
"i watch ebony porn you look like... " etc..
are things that me, personally and other black women i personally know have heard.. alot.. and no they have no shame in saying things like that straight to your face and its disgusting, even in memes and egyptian meme pages they depend on racism and sexism as "dark humor"
Dehumanization is a process in which a group or an individual is perceived and treated as less than fully human. And the black women, not just in America but everywhere as Malcolm X said, is the most unprotected, neglected and disrespected, so please listen
we've all heard about the recent incident in madinet nasr where a group of Egyptian men harassed a sudanese girl, here's a video of a sudanese man crying while talking about the harassment that sudanese women go through in Egypt https://twitter.com/AJA_Egypt/status/1312174272543027200?s=19
here's one anon story from @NubiYouth 's story on Instagram (check it out it) about a group of black girls that were harassed in el zamalek, Egypt. And another story from one of my close friends
one of my mutual's story : "I always noticed how they'd only talk about sexual things around me, they never do that with my non black friends, they ask me weird questions like if im hardcore because thats what they see on porn websites and it makes me feel so uncomfortable"
one of my followers story : "we are def over-sexualised compared to non black women, ive also noticed b4 how when id date nb guys, they’d be overly sexual (idk how to word it lol) with me compared to other people they dated/are dating. k2no y3ny by7trmo el nb women more than me"
social media also portrays black women in a certain stereotype and with ignorant Egyptian boys growing up heavily influenced by the western media, they take everything on there and spread it everywhere wherever they go
so, if any black girl wanna share her story anonymously or even just talk about it, im here for you and I'll always be
