There is something about God's word that just gives me peace. His Truth about difficult situations I mean. Let me explain...
During my teenage years, I was addicted to porn and masturbation, though I knew this to be wrong I felt I was satisfying a crucial need at that moment. But I began having thoughts that were very offensive and wicked, I knew I had to stop this. So I started trying...
Making new year resolutions every year to quit but I kept failing at each moment. It felt as if i couldn't do without it and every time I got a chance to I just did. Around late 2017, I gave my life to Christ because I wanted to make things right.
Yet nothing changed. I then started to accumulate God's word about being free from the Power of sin, and being a new creature as is written in 2 Corinthians 5:17. Changing the things I listened to, filtering what I let into my heart as much as I could.
Fast forward, early this year, I met a friend of mine and told him my predicament. He is a fellow I know to be grounded in the word of God and in his Power. He prayed for me and told me to not have anything to do with those things that drew me to sin.
Then the COVID 19 news broke out and we had to stay home. During this period, I have had time to reflect and realise that though Sexual desire is created by God he didn't mean for me to fulfil it this way.
Sex (God's way) is a selfless act of love expressed by married couples and not a drug induced activity as showcased in porn, or a one person fulfillment achieved by masturbation.
I had to realised that the moment I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior, I had become a New Creature not under the power of sin. I had to arm my self with this mindset as Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 6. That he who is dead to sin is free from the power of sin.
Dead to sin because I believe in Christ death on the cross as the death of my sinful nature. I believe that he shed his blood for my forgiveness and he rose again for my Justification.
Then just as it is written in John 8:32 - That whosoever the son sets free, he is free indeed.
Amazing isn't it.
I felt led to pass this here for anyone who feels lost that there is hope in Christ Jesus. You could listen to Free Indeed Podcast by @JoshuaKesena. It is really helpful. Thank you.
