I appreciate the rainbow arguments seem silly to anyone on the outside but let me put it this way.

For years, if you saw the rainbow flag up somewhere, queer people knew they would be safe there.

Now? Is it safe? Or does that person support the NHS - and want to send you to it? https://twitter.com/attitudemag/status/1314853176755941376
The six stripe rainbow flag was created specifically for LGBT+ Pride. The NHS rainbow symbol was originally a child's drawing of a classic seven stripe curve, and adorable, but now... Can you say co-opting?
Re: LGBT+ doesn't have a monopoly on rainbows/rainbows have been symbols of other things for ages https://twitter.com/PortalBookshop/status/1314923830192807937
People are discussing how they no longer feel safe/certain about healthcare providers wearing rainbow pins/lanyards. The muddying of symbols has eroded a trust that queer NHS workers and allies were striving to put in place.
People in my mentions talking about specific instances already happening where they've been attacked/harassed/made to feel unwelcome unsafe for being queer, by people sporting the rainbow flag.
What I'm saying here is that the confusion around the particular horizontal stripe rainbow design is causing real world problems, real pain, real anguish. The queer community - especially those with intersecting marginalisations - are TELLING YOU this hurts them. Please listen.
